OxyElite Pro Review – My Thoughts and Impressions

When I began searching for a fat-burner to incorporate in my P90X routine, OxyElite Pro was one of the first and most hyped products that I found. Just typing OxyElite Pro into Google will produce almost 300,000 results, with pages upon pages of positive reviews. While researching OEP and reading so many raving reviews on it, I couldn’t help but wonder if this product can really be as great as everyone says it is. Can you really lose weight with this fat burner? Does it live up to the hype, or is it just another weight loss fad? Well, after using OEP for six weeks, I found that it did in fact live up to the hype.

OEP is the first fat burning supplement that I’ve ever used and it has definitely set the bar high. The very first day that I began using it, I noticed the stimulants start working within the first 30 minutes. It didn’t make me anxious or paranoid, and it didn’t give me the jitters (as others have reported in their reviews), but what it did provide me with was a constant and reliable source of energy and focus throughout the day. It usually takes me about two hours and multiple cups of coffee to really get the energy and focus that I need to carry out my daily tasks, but one pill of this stuff in the morning and another early in the afternoon would have me ready to go.

While using OEP, there was a noticable change in my appetite. I had to force myself to eat my usual 6-8 meals a day, and meeting my intake goal of 1800 calories daily was almost a challenge in itself. But I managed, and it really worked out for the better.  It is important that you stick to a healthy diet while using this product. If you fail to do so, the appetite suppression will not be as effective as it should be.

Another great thing that I noticed was that I was burning between 50 and 75% more calories during cardio-intensive workouts. During the Kenpo X routine in P90X, I was burning roughly 650 calories before starting with the OEP. While using OEP, however, my calories burned went up to around 950, and some days even upwards of 1150 calories burned in a single workout.  And by the end of the workout, I was rarely exhausted and honestly could have burned even more calories.

While OEP is definitely a very effective product, it is no magic pill.  A healthy diet and workout routine is crucial for this product to work.  While you would probably still benefit from some of the energetic properties without a proper diet and workout plan in place, the fat burning aspect of OEP would not be effective.  It is a very potent product and should be used with care.  It is recommended to take a multivitamin while using OEP, or it could have unwanted side-effects such as minor hair loss and changes in skin complexion.  Another downside of the product is the price.  At $40 for the 90 capsule bottle (at GNC), it is quite pricy.  I will say, though, that results are worth the price you pay for the product.

In rating OxyElite Pro, I give it the following scores:

OxyElite Pro is without a doubt one of the best weight loss supplements on the market.  I haven’t tried them all, but after using OEP for six weeks during the P90X routine, I will not be using any other product for weight loss in the near future.  The large list of benefits heavily outweighs the few negatives that are associated with it.  I have already recommended the product to friends and family who are looking to lose weight fast, and will continue to do so until a better product comes out.  But until then, I’ll be using OxyElite Pro.





Rewind and Fast Forward

It’s been a while since I updated, and I always feel awkward writing here after such a long hiatus.  It’s kind of like running into that friend in WalMart.  You know, the one you were cool with once but haven’t spoken to in a long time.  Not really awkward, but just kind of…weird.  I figure a good way to return to the blogosphere would be to recap everyone on what I’ve been up to in my absence, and the cool things that I have coming up in the near future.

REWIND

  • I’ve finished my first round of P90X, and I was more than impressed with the program.  Over the course of 90 days I lost 36lbs, went from about 23% body fat to 13%, and got into the best shape that I have ever been in.
  • Since I finished P90X, I’ve gained about 15lbs of the weight that I lost back.  I wouldn’t really say that I failed at maintaining my diet and condition.  It’s more like I didn’t even try to.  After I finished, there was Thanksgiving, my wedding, Christmas, New Years, and two birthdays in the family (all of which we ate huge dinners for).  So for the two months following P90X, all I did was pretty much eat junk and not work out.  But thats okay, I’ll be getting back on track again soon.
  • I’ve very casually leveled my Shaman, Peedrinker, up to level 72.  So far, I’ve really enjoyed getting back into WoW.  The portion of Cataclysm that I’ve experienced so far, which was the revamped zones in Azeroth, was a blast.  I had a lot of fun leveling through them with my friends.  I’m now a full blown Elemental Shaman, running a Resto offspec, and enjoying every bit of it.
  • I’m sad to say that Latency Lowlifes, the guild that I was raving about a while back, has since crumbled.  With the release of the Rift beta shortly after the Cataclysm release, mostly everyone else lost interest in WoW after getting into the familiar BC content.  But thats okay.  I still keep in touch with them on twitter, so I’m not groveling yet.  Once I hit 85 on my Shaman, I’ll be looking for another guild that I can be active and raid with, which I am looking forward to.
  • Look up.  I changed my header!

FAST FORWARD

  • Starting this coming Monday, I’ll be officially kicking off my 2nd round of P90X.  I’ve attempted to start round 2 already, but wasn’t able to get very far because of sicknesses and other unforeseen circumstances.  But I’ve spent the past week or so preparing myself mentally, stocking up on the food and supplements that I need, and getting myself excited to do this thing again.  This time around, I’ll be cutting as much weight as possible during the first month, and adding some bulk during the last two months.  I’ll be making a post in the next few days on how I plan to do this.
  • I also haven’t forgotten my promise to review OxyElite Pro, and will be posting that up in the next week or so as well.
  • During my journey to expand my Shaman skills, I’ve found some very resourceful blogs that helped me out a lot.  I’ve noticed, though, that there are multiple good blogs for Resto, and not very many for Elemental.  So I plan to start posting more about my Shaman, the useful things that I learn while I level and raid, and the experiences that I find humorous and intriguing as well. I’ll probably take more of an active blogging approach to WoW and the Shaman class in general that I have in the past, and the health and nutrition information will probably take a backseat to that.
  • I hope to change the theme of the blog soon, so if you see something that looks jacked up, thats most likely why.  But just in case, leave me a comment or email me and let me know so I can get to fixing it.
  • I’ve marked off a thing or two on my list of goals for 2011 already.  I’ll be marking off more as I go.

And thats about it.  I’m excited to get this blog rolling again.  I have some big changes planned for this year and I can’t wait to bring them to life.  Hopefully I’ll have a few folks around to enjoy them with as well.





Alcohol, Fitness, and You

Alcohol is one of the most commonly used drugs in America.  It helps us all relax and enjoy a night out with friends, and a good beer perfectly compliments any sporting event, whether it be on television or in person.  And lets face it, after a long day of work, there’s nothing better than kicking back in the recliner with a cold one or a nice glass of wine.  But is this substance healthy for us?  Will it inhibit the results of a fitness program like P90X?  Or results we see from time in the gym?  Or the diet we’ve been working so hard to adapt to?

The answer is yes, alcohol does have a negative affect on our health, and it will definitely effect our results from dieting and working out.  While alcohol does have a few positive benefits when taken in moderation, the negatives far outweigh the benefits of it.  Now I’m not trying to tell you that you can’t have a few brews with buddies every once in a while.  I would definitely be preaching to the choir.  But I just want to provide some facts as to why alcohol will hinder our progress toward a healthy lifestyle.

  • Alcohol slows protein synthesis.  Alcohol, when taken in excess, has been shown to slow the process of protein synthesis by as much as 20%.
  • Alcohol lowers testosterone levels.  Testosterone determines how much muscle one can gain.  Managing your testosterone levels is difficult, which is why you see so many body builders and professional athletes using steroids.
  • Alcohol is a diuretic which causes dehydration you.  We all know how important it is to properly hydrate with water throughout the day, and alcohol will take you in the opposite direction of that goal.
  • Alcohol interferes with the absorption of vitamins and minerals that are essential for healthy living.
  • Alcohol intake spikes insulin levels, which causes the body to store fat, dampening any dreams of weight loss.
  • Alcohol contains empty calories (seven empty calories, to be exact), empty meaning no nutritional value what-so-ever.  Many alcoholic drinks contain sugars as well, bumping the number of calories up even higher.
  • Alcohol increases your appetite.

Obviously, drinking alcohol while maintaining a healthy lifestyle can cause complications in your weight loss and fitness goals.  However, alcohol has become a part of every day living for many.  So how do we reduce the impact it has on our health?  A few tips:

  1. Set a limit – Ladies, limit yourselves to one or two drinks a night.  Guys, limit yourselves to two or three drinks a night.
  2. Start earlier and finish earlier – The later you drink, the more unhealthy it is.  If you have your last drink 4-5 hours before sleep, you will have more time to burn the empty calories off with everyday activity.
  3. Avoid sugary drinks – Try to avoid mixed drinks that incorporate heavy usage of juices, sodas, and artificial flavorings (think margaritas, screwdrivers, jagerbombs, etc).
  4. Plan ahead – Eat a meal that is high in protein before drinking and before going to bed in order to keep the body from going catabolic during sleep and to prevent muscle breakdown.
  5. Drink water – Have a half glass of water in between beers/drinks to reduce the alcohol intake, as well as keep your body hydrated.
  6. Recover – The following morning, eat a big breakfast that is high in protein (turkey bacon, egg whites, etc) to restore as many nutrients that were lost the night before.
  7. Cut back – If you are a beer drinker, stick to the light beers.  The lowest calorie beer is Miller Genuine Draft with only 64 calories and 2.4g carbs.
